Rosaleen Fitzgerald

Rosaleen Fitzgerald, age 81, of Harrington Park, New Jersey passed away surrounded by family on June 13, 2022. Born in Dublin, Ireland on June 5, 1941 she was daughter to the late Hugh and Mary Moloney, and the youngest of four daughters where she graduated from a school in Dublin, called Dominican College.  When she was 18 years old, Rosaleen immigrated to the United States where she would later meet her husband of 58 years, Oliver Patrick.

Rosaleen worked for the Borough of Harrington Park and later 30 years at a financial planning firm (Faraldi & Porro).  This was done in addition to her time spent volunteering at the local OLV parish and being a soccer mom all while managing a household of five children. Rosaleen loved walking through the streets of Harrington Park (miles everyday!) stopping to all of the friendly dogs that were willing to say hello.

Rosaleen is survived by her husband, Oliver Fitzgerald; their five children, Catherine Fitzgerald (Kevin Tobias), Geraldine Buratti (Paul Buratti), John Fitzgerald (Alicia Fitzgerald), Brian Fitzgerald (Laura Fitzgerald), Deirdre Fitzgerald (Gregg Fein); their 14 Grandchildren – Pamela Decker, Jacqueline Cid-Paz, Michael Longobardi, Katie Buratti, Nico Longobardi, Enrico Longobardi, Paul Buratti, John Fitzgerald, Megan Fliegel, Lucas Buratti, Jenna Fitzgerald, Kenneth Fliegel, Matthew Fitzgerald and Samantha Fitzgerald; and her 3 Great Grandchildren – Cecilia Decker, Jolene Decker & Luciana Cid-Paz.  She also leaves behind her sisters and in-laws, Kathleen and Daniel Clavin, Maura and John Murray, Margaret and (late) Frank Riina, plus many cherished nieces and nephews. Also, thank you to her other family and caretakers, especially Ann and Marvia.  And finally, let’s not forget she was also one of the best dog moms to Kerry, Honey and Luna.

Mom, we love you and life will never be the same without you, but heaven has gained a true angel. You were truly the founder of this big, crazy family of ours. We will miss your spunk and constant chatter you brought with you everywhere you went. May you now rest and let heaven care for you, and may God hold you gently in the palm of His hand.

Family will receive friends on Friday, June 17, 2022, from 3-7pm at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Avenue, Northvale, NJ. Mass will be offered on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at 10am at Our Lady of Victories Church in Harrington Park, New Jersey.  Condolences may be sent by visiting www.pizzifuneralhome.com

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org) or to Juvenile Diabetes Research and Advocacy (jdrf.org).

Auntie Rosaleen was fun loving, a real jokester with a great sense of humor. I can picture your mother and mine in hysterics over, just about anything, that happened in Ireland when they were kids.. She held her cards close but was very caring and loving. She was a giver and a doer. A real bright light. I’m sorry to you all for your loss
